There was an idea to create something, to show others a place like it had never been seen before. And that's when it began, in 2017, the mission, to turn the city of Patan into an attraction—digitally! And so the app Patan – Heritage Walk was born. A project to promote tourism, while also making a positive impact on society at the same time. Digital media used to change the lives of the people of Patan.

Patan, a city full of culture – traditional, and modern, and there’s so much there to do, if you look closely enough. And that's what this project is all about, to make you see what you usually ignore – the insides of Patan. The app Patan Heritage Walk is a digital guide for tourists. It features a very detailed map of the city in a thematic way. You can view the city of Patan in through 5 different eyes – Artistic, Spiritual, Healing, Food and Business. Experience art and craft, or get in touch with your spirit, or energize your soul, or revel with traditional food or see the business side of things.

You can get details about any of the monuments or places in Patan. Also, if you're an entrepreneur, you can have your business listed in the app, and reach tourists and locals alike. As a tourist, you can also hire local guides to show you around the place if you want to see more. The project also trains people from the area as tourist guides and provides training to cottage industries to improve their livelihoods. This helps generate revenue for them, which keeps the cultural heritage intact, which, in turn promotes tourism. It can also attract travel agencies to invest in Patan as a package for tourists. In the end, it's all about preserving the cultural heritage to promote tourism while improving the lives of the people there. The project is also supported by World Bank for the efforts of management of Lalitpur community.
