Feeling festive yet? It’s never too early to begin thinking about Christmas. I know I am, with the days getting shorter, and mornings even harder to get up to, the smell of fresh, crisp air, and dew settling on trees. I am actually planning to buy Christmas presents and stack my fridge up with festive food, and not to forget, to get ahead and schedule all the events I want to attend. This article can be your guide to Christmas 2017 in Kathmandu, featuring the best festive activities and events.
Almost forgot, Christmas isn’t the only event coming up! New Year is right behind, don’t miss out on a single party—the capital is fully prepared with loads of New Year's Eve parties and events up its sparkly sleeve.
Annual AWON Christmas Bazaar 2017
The annual fundraising event of AWON, showcasing different products, is a perfect place for Christmas shopping and networking. It will be held at Hyatt Regency on Saturday, December 2, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. There will be a variety of food, ranging from festive cuisine to Nepali delights. That’s not all! Come by for an afternoon filled with fun, games, and activities for both children and adults. This Christmas bazaar uses its proceeds to provide scholarships to children in need.
Timro Christmas Bazar 2017
Spend an enjoyable afternoon with friends and family at the Christmas Bazaar in Suburb Cafe, Lalitpur, on Saturday, December 9, 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The venue will have a variety of festive treats. Buying gifts during Christmas is always a bit difficult, because our indecisive nature can tend to get the better of us. If you are going overseas to meet your family, or even if you are celebrating the festive season in Nepal, the stalls at the Christmas Bazaar will have some exciting presents and local souvenirs, including handmade items like bags, clothes, and notebooks.
Summit Christmas Market 2017
A day-long bazaar, with stalls selling almost everything, will be held on Sunday, December 10, at the Summit Hotel. There will also be a late afternoon and early evening performance by Kathmandu Chorale, so take your family, friends, and children along to enjoy some seasonal songs. The Summit Christmas Market differs from a lot of the others in that it stretches into the evening; once the temperature drops, and it gets dark, all the lights come on, transforming the event into something reminiscent of a winter market in a European city. It’s a great atmosphere in which to enjoy carols, do your shopping, and have tasty things to eat!
